Weston gave the district its name and was the first of its suburbs to be built, which means the shutters here are working on some of the oldest housing stock west of the Molonglo. Late 1960s brick, standard window sizes, and hardware that in most cases was added a decade or two after the house went up. It has all had a very long time to wear.
We cover the whole of Weston in the 2611 postcode, from the group centre through the surrounding residential streets and out to the Holder, Stirling and Curtin boundaries. Waramanga, Fisher and the rest of Weston Creek are on the same route.
Between the age of the housing and the age of the retrofits, most of what we deal with here is straightforward wear. It is rarely dramatic and it is usually well advanced by the time somebody calls.
Weston is not only houses. The group centre and the businesses around it run security shutters and roller doors that get cycled every single day, and those wear in a completely different pattern to a domestic unit. Limits drift, drives get hot, and bottom rails collect knocks. If you run a shopfront here and your shutter has slowed down, started stopping in a different place each night or become noisy on the way up, it is worth looking at before it strands you with an opening you cannot secure at closing time.
