The homes that went up across West Hoxton from the late 1990s onward are large, and large homes mean large windows. Wide shutters carry more weight, put more load on the motor and amplify any small alignment error across the span.
We cover the whole of West Hoxton in the 2171 postcode and the neighbouring estates at Horningsea Park, Middleton Grange, Hoxton Park, Carnes Hill and Hinchinbrook. Cecil Hills and the Edmondson Park side are on the same run.
The estate housing here is mostly two storey brick with generous glazing, and the shutters fitted to those openings are wide, heavy and now old enough for the original hardware to be showing its age.
If a wide shutter has failed more than once, the question worth asking is whether the unit was ever right for the opening. We would rather tell you a motor keeps burning out because it is undersized than fit another one and be back in two years. Where the original specification was wrong we will say so, set out what a correctly sized unit involves, and let you decide. On the widest openings there is also a case for splitting one very wide shutter into two, and we will raise that if it applies to yours.
