Close to twenty suburbs make up Tuggeranong, and they were not built at the same time. Kambah and Wanniassa date from the mid-1970s, while Conder, Banks and Gordon at the southern end came up in the 1990s. Twenty years between one end of the valley and the other is enough to change the housing, the window sizes and the kind of shutter faults we are called out to.
We cover the whole of the Tuggeranong Valley, including Kambah, Wanniassa, Fadden, Gowrie, Monash, Oxley, Isabella Plains, Richardson, Gilmore, Chisholm, Macarthur, Calwell, Theodore, Banks, Conder, Gordon, Bonython and the town centre at Greenway.
What we find depends on where in the valley you are, but the climate does not vary. Every suburb here gets the same frosts and the same wide daily temperature range, and that is what wears the hardware.
In the older northern suburbs the shutters are almost all retrofits onto 1970s brick, so the fixings and the masonry behind them are as much of an issue as the shutter. Further south the houses are younger, the openings are wider, and the failures tend to sit in the motor and the span rather than in the wall. It is worth saying which suburb you are in when you call, because it shapes what we bring with us.
