Theodore came late in Tuggeranong's build, going up through the late 1980s and into the 1990s on rising ground toward the southern end of the valley. Newer housing means newer shutters, and newer shutters bring their own set of problems rather than none at all. Thirty years is more than long enough for a motor, a spring or a set of seals to reach the end of the line.

Houses from this period tend to have larger glazed areas than the 1970s stock further north in the valley, so the shutters fitted to them are wider and carry more weight.
Canberra gets talked about for its winters, but the summer end of the range matters just as much to a shutter.
