Tharwa has been there longer than Canberra has. It is the oldest surviving settlement in the Territory, a small village on the Murrumbidgee well south of the city, surrounded by rural blocks and bushland running toward Namadgi. Winters in the valley are colder than in town, frost sits longer, and that is the single biggest factor in how shutters age out here.
We cover the village of Tharwa and the surrounding rural properties in the 2620 postcode, along the road out from Gordon and Banks and through the rural valleys south of the village. Conder and southern Tuggeranong are the nearest built-up areas we service.
Properties here range from old village cottages to modern rural houses on acreage, and both sit in a colder, dustier and more exposed setting than anything in the suburbs.
Tharwa is a longer trip than any suburb we cover, so we plan the visit rather than treating it as a drop-in. Tell us as much as you can when you call, including the make if you know it, the size of the opening, whether the unit is manual or motorised and what it is actually doing, and send a photo if you can. That way we arrive with the parts likely to be needed rather than booking a second trip. If you have more than one shutter playing up, we will look at them all on the same visit.
