The Cooks River runs along the edge of Tempe and the tide reaches this far upstream, which puts a low but constant level of salt in the air on the streets nearest the water. It is nothing like an oceanfront exposure, but over fifteen or twenty years it shows.
We cover Tempe throughout the 2044 postcode, from the riverside streets across to the Sydenham and St Peters boundaries and down toward the Wolli Creek and Arncliffe side. Marrickville and Earlwood are on the same run.
Tempe holds some genuinely old housing alongside a lot of later development, so we see everything from nineteenth century masonry to units built in the last fifteen years.
Plenty of homes here have an original front section and a much newer addition at the rear, and the shutters on each behave differently. The older masonry needs a mechanical anchor and careful alignment, while the newer section is usually straightforward. When you call, it helps to know roughly how old the part of the house is that the shutter is on, because it changes what we bring and how long we allow for the job. If you are not sure, a photo of the window from outside usually tells us enough to work it out before we arrive.
