Most of Telopea was built after the Second World War, and the brick homes and walk-up flats from that period were never designed with roller shutters in mind. Everything here is a retrofit, fitted decades after the building went up, and the quality of that original install decides how the unit ages.
We cover all of Telopea inside the 2117 postcode, from the streets around the station and Adderton Road corridor through to the Dundas, Dundas Valley and Oatlands boundaries. Carlingford, Rydalmere and North Parramatta are part of the same route.
Housing is mostly low and low-medium density from the 1950s and 1960s, with the denser blocks concentrated closer to the rail corridor. Solid brick, small openings and modest eaves are the pattern.
The most common thing we correct in Telopea is not the shutter, it is how it was attached. A unit fitted with the wrong anchor into soft brick will keep going out of alignment no matter how many times the guides are adjusted. Refixing properly is a small job compared with replacing a curtain, and it is what we look at first when a shutter here keeps drifting out of true.
