Half of St Peters is former industrial land and the other half is tight residential streets of terraces and workers' cottages. Almost every shutter we work on here is a retrofit into an opening that was never square to begin with, and that is the root of most of the faults we find.
We cover the residential streets west of the Princes Highway across to the Enmore and Newtown boundary, and the pocket running down toward Sydney Park. Erskineville, Marrickville, Sydenham and Tempe all sit inside the same 2044 and 2043 area we service daily.
The housing stock here is largely Victorian and Federation, much of it over a century old, built with lime mortar and window openings that have shifted over time.
Terrace frontages here leave very little room to work, and on some streets there is nowhere to park a vehicle within reasonable carrying distance. Tell us what the frontage is like when you call and whether there is rear lane access, because it changes what we bring and how long the job takes. We would rather know before we arrive than work it out on the day.
