Schofields has been a building site for most of the last fifteen years. New estates have gone up around the old village at pace, and while that is good for the suburb, it puts an enormous amount of fine dust into the air. Fine dust is what kills a guide rail.
We cover Schofields in the 2762 postcode, both the newer estates and the older streets near the station and Schofields Road, and we take in Riverstone, Quakers Hill, Marsden Park and the Rouse Hill side.
Estate homes here are on compact lots with small eaves, and most have motorised shutters fitted at build, often across a whole street within the same few months. When one fails, the same fault often turns up two doors down inside the year.
While the estates around you are still being built, the rails on your shutters will collect more dust than they ever will again. Hosing the guides out every few months through that period makes a real difference, because dust on its own is harmless and dust plus rain is a grinding paste. Once the earthworks nearby are finished, the shutters settle down and go back to needing very little attention at all. If a builder is still working next door, it is worth waiting until they are finished before doing a thorough clean rather than doing it twice.
