Built out in the 1960s and 70s as public housing, Sadleir is now a mix of privately owned and renovated homes. The brick is solid and the blocks are decent, and the shutters are almost always something added long after the house itself was finished.

There is a point where a shutter is genuinely finished, but it sits a lot further away than most people expect. Motors, straps, springs, end caps and guides are all replaceable items, and on a unit that was well made to begin with a repair usually makes far more sense than a replacement. Older shutters were often built with heavier gauge slats than the current equivalents, and a curtain like that is worth keeping in service.
