Petersham packs Victorian and Federation terraces into a small area, and terrace windows are among the hardest openings we work on. Narrow frontages leave no room to work from the side, and century-old openings are rarely square, so a shutter that measures correctly on paper still fouls the reveal once it is up.
We cover all of Petersham in the 2049 postcode, from Parramatta Road down through the New Canterbury Road and Audley Street shops to the streets bordering Dulwich Hill. Lewisham, Stanmore, Marrickville and Leichhardt are all close enough that we are usually working somewhere nearby.
Housing here runs from single-fronted workers cottages to larger Federation homes, with a fair number of flats from the 1960s and 70s in between. Shutters are almost always a later addition to all of them.
A good part of Petersham falls inside a heritage conservation area, and anything that changes a street-facing elevation can raise approval questions. Where the existing hardware can be saved we repair it rather than replace it, which keeps the frontage as it is and keeps the job simple for everyone. If a replacement is genuinely the only option left, we will say so plainly and explain what has actually failed rather than leaving you to take our word for it. Most of the time the honest answer on a terrace is that the existing unit can be saved.
