The estates in Parklea have reached the age where original equipment starts letting go. Homes across the 2768 postcode were built through the 1990s and 2000s, and shutters fitted at construction or shortly afterwards are now well into their third decade of Western Sydney summers.
We cover Parklea and the neighbouring estates at Glenwood, Stanhope Gardens, Acacia Gardens and Kellyville Ridge, out to the Quakers Hill boundary. Old Windsor Road is our usual way in and out, so we can generally fit this area in at short notice.
Estate housing of this era means brick veneer, modest eaves and a lot of glazing facing whichever way the block happened to sit. The shutters were specified by a builder rather than chosen by the owner.
The useful question at this age is not whether the shutter still works. It is whether the parts inside it are still doing their job. A unit can look perfectly fine while running on a spring with nothing left in it, which puts the entire load onto the motor and shortens its life considerably. We can check the balance in a few minutes and tell you what has life left and what is close to done, which is a far better basis for a decision than waiting for the morning it will not open.
