Toongabbie Creek runs through this part of the district and the lower streets in Old Toongabbie hold the damp longer than the rest of the suburb does. It is a small difference on any given morning and a very real one over twenty years, particularly for anything with a motor inside it.
We cover Old Toongabbie in the 2146 postcode, from the creek side across to Toongabbie, Wentworthville and the Northmead boundary. Winston Hills, Girraween and Pendle Hill are on the same run.
The housing is largely post-war and 1960s to 1970s brick on regular blocks, with shutters added well after the houses were finished. Age and moisture together drive most of the failures we attend.
A motor failure is rarely just a motor failure on the older units around here. What we usually find is a cracked end cap or a perished seal that has been letting moisture in for years, and the motor is simply the thing that finally gave up. Replacing the motor without dealing with how the water is getting in gives you the same problem again a few winters later, so we look for the entry point first and quote on the whole cause rather than the symptom. If the unit sits on the lower, wetter side of the block, expect it to need attention sooner than the ones on the higher side of the same house.
