Autumn is the busy season for shutter callouts in Northmead. Bushland reserves and creek corridors border parts of the suburb and the streets carry a great many mature trees, so once the leaf drop starts the headboxes fill up and the curtains stop rolling cleanly.
We cover Northmead in the 2152 postcode, from the North Parramatta boundary through to Winston Hills, Constitution Hill and the Baulkham Hills side. Old Toongabbie and Toongabbie are on the same run.
Most of Northmead was built through the 1960s and 1970s, with brick homes on decent blocks and a lot of established planting added since. The trees are behind the majority of what we find here.
If your house sits under trees, ask for the headbox to be opened at service time rather than just having the rails cleaned. That box is the one part nobody ever inspects, and it is exactly where debris accumulates. Clearing it every couple of years takes very little time and it prevents the jam that damages slats, which is the expensive version of the same problem and the one we get called out to most. Gutters and headboxes tend to fill in the same season, so if you are having the gutters cleared it is a sensible time to have the shutters looked at as well.
