Shutters fitted in Hassall Grove during the estate build years are now old enough that we are replacing components rather than adjusting them. The suburb went up largely through the 1980s, and the plastics, seals and motors from that period have reached the point where they fail rather than wear.
We cover Hassall Grove in the 2761 postcode along with Plumpton, Oakhurst, Glendenning, Dean Park and Colebee. It is all one run for us across this part of the Blacktown area.
The housing here is mostly single and double storey brick from the 1980s onward, on regular suburban blocks with mature front gardens. Shutters were commonly fitted to bedrooms at the front of the house facing the street.
Motors rarely fail without warning. A change in the sound, a longer run time, or a shutter that stops short and needs a second press are all early signals. Dealing with it at that stage is a straightforward job. Waiting until it stops with the curtain halfway down usually means someone has to get the shutter open manually first, and if the motor has jammed the curtain against the box there can be additional damage to sort out. If yours has started sounding different, book it in before it strands you.
