Hall predates Canberra. The village was laid out in the 1880s and it still reads that way, with a heritage precinct at its centre and rural blocks spreading out around it. Working here is not like working in a Belconnen street. The buildings are older, properties are further apart, and the wind comes across open paddocks with nothing in the way.
We cover Hall village in the 2618 postcode, the surrounding rural blocks, and the northern Gungahlin and Belconnen suburbs closest to it, including Nicholls and Spence. Properties on the New South Wales side of the border nearby are also within reach.
The building stock ranges from genuinely old village houses through to modern homes and sheds on acreage. Shutters here are usually retrofits and they take more weather than a suburban equivalent would. Sheds and workshops here often have roller doors as well as the house having window shutters.
On a heritage building the sensible approach is repairing what is there and matching it where a part has to change. If the work would alter the appearance of a building covered by heritage provisions, check the position with the relevant authority first. For rural properties, tell us about shed doors and outbuildings when you book so we bring the right parts out in one trip. It saves a second trip out from town.
