There is a sameness to Fisher that works in your favour. The homes went up in the early 1970s, the window openings are a standard size for the era, and the shutters added later mostly came from the same handful of systems. When one fails, we usually know what we are looking at before we arrive.
We cover Fisher in the 2611 postcode along with Waramanga and Chapman next door, and across into Pearce and Torrens. Weston Creek is a short run for us, so we generally group calls across the district.
The stock is largely single storey brick from the early 1970s on sloping blocks, with a lot of homes now on their second owner and their second round of renovation. Shutters are almost always retrofitted.
Most of the older Fisher shutters we look at do not need replacing. The extrusion and the curtain are usually fine and the failure sits in a bearing, a motor or a set of seals. We tell you plainly when a unit is genuinely at the end of its life and when it is not, because a full replacement on a sound installation is money spent for no gain.
