Being on the Parramatta River gives Ermington a damper climate than the suburbs a few kilometres inland, and moisture is the recurring theme in our work across the 2115 postcode. It does not announce itself the way a jammed rail does. It quietly rusts axles, corrodes bearings and gets into motor housings until something stops working for no obvious reason.

The bulk of the housing is post war brick from the 1950s and 1960s on regular blocks, with substantial newer apartment development along the Melrose Park side. Both types come to us with damp related faults.
