Duffy took the worst of the 2003 Canberra bushfires, and a large part of the suburb was rebuilt in the years that followed. That has a practical consequence two decades on. A great many Duffy shutters were fitted during the rebuild, which means the hardware across whole streets is roughly the same age and is now reaching the point where motors and seals begin to go. Narrabundah Hill sits on the western edge and carried a mature pine plantation before the fires, so the exposure on that side has not changed even though the vegetation has.
We cover all of Duffy in the 2611 postcode, from the streets facing Narrabundah Hill through to the Rivett, Holder and Chapman boundaries. Coombs and Wright sit immediately to the north, and we service the whole of Weston Creek and the Molonglo Valley.
A mix of surviving early 1970s houses and post-2003 rebuilds, with the rebuild hardware now around two decades old.
If your shutters went on with the rebuild, they are at the age where a service is worth more than a repair bill later. Retensioning a spring, clearing and lubricating the rails and checking the seal takes far less time than dealing with a seized motor in the middle of winter. We can tell you honestly whether a unit has years left in it or whether it is on the way out, and we will not push a replacement on something that is still sound.
