Dobroyd Point faces the southern shore of Iron Cove, with Iron Cove Creek on one side and the Hawthorne Canal on the other, and that puts salt air on three approaches to most properties. Combine it with Federation housing built as part of a planned garden suburb and you get a very particular set of repair conditions in the 2045 postcode.
We cover the whole of Dobroyd Point and the adjoining Haberfield streets, along with Ashfield, Rodd Point, Five Dock and Leichhardt on the same inner west route. Properties closest to the water are the ones we suggest looking at most often.
The housing here is early twentieth century, built with wide eaves, deep window reveals and brickwork laid in soft lime mortar. Every shutter on these homes is a retrofit, and the original construction was not designed to carry one.
