Much of Colyton was built in the 1960s and 1970s, and the shutters on those homes were nearly all added later by owners who wanted security or wanted the western sun off the glass. Retrofitted units on older frames are the bulk of our work in the 2760 postcode.
We cover the whole of Colyton and the surrounding St Marys area, including Oxley Park, St Clair, Erskine Park and the streets running towards Mount Druitt. Everything in this part of the Penrith local government area is on our standard run.
Brick and fibro homes of this era were not designed with shutters in mind. The window openings are often not square, the eaves are shallow, and the fixing surfaces are not always what an installer would choose.
An old shutter on an old house is not automatically a write-off. In most cases the curtain and the rails have plenty of life left and the fault is in the fixings, the mechanism or the alignment. We look at what can be saved first, because refitting properly to the opening you actually have usually gives a better result than dropping in a new unit built to a nominal size. Where a part is genuinely no longer made, we will say so rather than improvise.
