A frayed or snapped webbing strap accounts for a large share of the shutter work we do in Cartwright. Manual strap-wound units were fitted right across the Green Valley area over the years, and the webbing is the part that wears out first. People often assume a broken strap means a new shutter. It very rarely does.
We cover Cartwright in the 2168 postcode and the neighbouring Green Valley suburbs of Busby, Sadleir, Heckenberg, Ashcroft, Miller and Green Valley. Liverpool is a short run from here, so this area sits well inside our regular service route.
Most of the housing dates from the 1960s and 1970s, and the shutters on it have been added at various points since by a range of different installers.
Replacing a strap and servicing the winder brings most manual shutters back to normal, and on a unit in reasonable condition that is the sensible repair. Motorising is a separate decision and it is worth thinking about if the shutter is on an awkward window, if lifting it has become difficult, or if the mechanism has already been rebuilt once. It is not automatically the right answer and we are happy to just fix the strap if that is what the shutter needs.
