Water defines the Canada Bay area more than anything else. The Parramatta River wraps around most of it, and the suburbs sitting on the peninsulas and bays inside the local government area get a level of salt exposure that inland parts of the inner west simply do not. It changes the work. Corrosion, not wear, is the main reason shutters fail here.
We work right across the Canada Bay area, taking in Five Dock, Drummoyne, Abbotsford, Chiswick, Russell Lea, Rodd Point, Wareemba, Concord, Cabarita, Mortlake, Breakfast Point, North Strathfield and Rhodes. Whether you are on the water or a few streets back makes a real difference to what we find, so it helps to tell us where you are when you call.
The housing runs from Federation and interwar homes on the older streets to recent apartment buildings on former industrial land near the river. The failures are consistent regardless.
Exposure drops off quickly as you move away from the water, and it is not unusual to find two identical shutters a kilometre apart in very different condition. If your home sits on a foreshore street or on one of the peninsulas, treat corrosion as the thing to watch and have the rails checked before they bind rather than after. Rinsing the guides with fresh water a few times a year genuinely slows it down, and it is the cheapest maintenance available on a shutter anywhere in this area.
