Burwood Heights is small enough that it often gets folded into Enfield or Burwood on a map, and it shares the 2136 postcode with its neighbours. The housing tells you more about it than the boundaries do. Interwar and postwar cottages and bungalows on regular blocks, most of them now carrying shutters that were fitted long after the house was finished.
We cover Burwood Heights and the adjoining streets in Enfield, Croydon Park, Belfield and Strathfield South, and Burwood itself is a couple of minutes away. Because the area is compact, if we are already working nearby we can often add a call the same day.
Older brick homes with retrofitted shutters produce a fairly narrow set of faults, and most of them build up slowly rather than arriving overnight.
A twenty year old shutter is not automatically a replacement job. Most of what fails on these units is a component rather than the whole assembly, and guides, seals, end caps, locks and springs can all be dealt with individually. Cleaning the rails out and re-lubricating them once a year does more for the working life of a shutter than anything else you can do. If we do come out and the honest answer is that a unit is past economical repair, we will tell you that rather than sell you a partial fix that will not last.
