Bonner has only been settled since 2010, so almost everything we work on here is original hardware rather than a retrofit. That changes the job. The shutters went on when the house was built, they are all roughly the same age, and when one motor in a street reaches the end of its service life the neighbours are usually not far behind. Blocks in Bonner are compact and a lot of the homes are two storey, which leaves the upper level shutters taking full sun and full frost with very little shelter.
We cover all of Bonner in the 2914 postcode, across the original stages and the later releases. Forde, Amaroo and Jacka adjoin Bonner directly, and Ngunnawal and the Gungahlin town centre are only a few minutes further, so we can group jobs across the north of Gungahlin into one visit.
Modern construction holds a fixing well and the mechanisms are relatively young, so what we find is usually wear and setup rather than structural failure.
A shutter that came with the house was specified to a build budget, and it is not unusual for the motor to be sized right at the minimum for the opening. That unit runs hot every cycle and gives up earlier than it should. If yours is straining, we would rather work out whether it is undersized than simply fit the same thing again. Where the original brand is still supported we repair instead of replacing, because on a house this age most of the assembly has plenty left in it.
