Much of Blackett dates from the Housing Commission subdivisions of the late 1960s and early 1970s, so the houses are modest, largely single storey, and built in brick and fibro. Almost no shutter here is original to the house. They have been added over the decades since, which means the way a shutter was mounted matters more than how old it is.
We cover Blackett in the 2770 postcode and the surrounding Mount Druitt suburbs, taking in Emerton, Tregear, Bidwill, Shalvey and Whalan on the same run. It is a compact set of streets and we can usually fit a call in quickly once we are in the area.
Retrofitted shutters on fifty year old houses give us a consistent set of faults, and heat does the rest.
Plenty of people here have shutters primarily for peace of mind, and a shutter that will not close all the way is not doing that job. If yours stops short of the sill, leaves a gap at one side, or can be lifted by hand from outside, those are all fixable and none of them need a full replacement in most cases. Worth checking the locks and end retainers too. They are the part that actually resists a lift, and they are the part most often left broken because the shutter still goes up and down.
