Terraces make shutter work fiddly. Annandale is dense with Victorian and Federation terraces and semis, often with narrow frontages, arched heads and openings that have shifted out of square over a century of settlement. A shutter ordered to a nominal size will not sit right on a house like that, and a good share of what we repair here traces back to a fit that was never quite correct.
We work across the whole of the 2038 postcode, from the Parramatta Road end down through the streets either side of Johnston Street and out toward the Rozelle Bay foreshore. Leichhardt, Stanmore, Glebe and Lilyfield sit on the same run.
The housing stock is old, mostly brick, and rarely square. Add the proximity to the bay and you get a particular set of failures.
Large parts of Annandale sit inside heritage conservation areas, and street-facing elevations are exactly what those controls exist to protect. We repair existing hardware wherever it can be saved, which keeps the frontage as it is and avoids the approval questions that come with changing how the front of a house reads. Where a replacement is genuinely unavoidable we will say so up front rather than after the fact.
